Why do headlights become cloudy?
Headlights are different from the paint or metal surfaces of the vehicle. Made of polycarbonate (plastic), they have a shorter lifespan and are more susceptible to aging, cracking and becoming cloudy.
Exposure of polycarbonate headlights to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun causes the lens of the car to oxidize, develop micro-cracks, change color and start to crack. In addition, the polycarbonate lens is porous and heats up from the light inside (and the sun), causing it to become cloudy. And that’s not to mention the amount of salt, dirt and contaminants that the lens is exposed to!
How to Fix Cloudy Headlights

Headlight restoration is the answer to cloudy headlights. Depending on the severity of the situation, use abrasives such as Ecoshine F1 Compound, F2 Polish and Ecoshine F3 Finish to sand the surface.
Why are ceramic headlight coatings important?
After removing the pitted and oxidised surface, you are left with a fresh, smooth plastic that needs protection. Without protection, your headlights will quickly become cloudy again.
